Annoying Background Music in Programs

There must be a strong Muscians union in Hollywood because am I the only one who finds that every program has music (much of it unecessary) so loud and overly dramatic that you can’t hear the muffled sounds of the actors speaking?!

A fabulous movie for anyone who loves period pieces! There were only 3 of us in the theatre…what a pity! It seems the stupider (if there is such a word) the movie, the bigger the audience. Good movies are so rare today and personally, I would consider this a great movie. So wonderful were the sets and costumes I was wishing I had a stop button so I could take in all the delicious details of each set. The actors were superb - it would be hard to single one out they were all so excellent. I would rate this movie a 10 and a half. No profanity either - Wow!

Support intelligent movies - go see it!

This summer in Vermont, we bit the bullet and signed on with Comcast so that we could finally get more television channels than the 2 and a half we had been receiving with that rip off of a black box - whoever sold those things must have had a good government ‘in’! So now we have 86 channels and one in particular features the most addictive programs. ‘The Housewives of New York’, New Jersey and several more. I promised myself from the get go that I would never look at them, but being an avid observer of human nature, it wasn’t more than one day that I was flipping channels, came across the Hof NY and was hooked!

Oh what disgusting women! What vicious back biters! What ego maniacs they are! And why would someone - no matter how much money they offer you (and supposedly they are all already wealthy) want to see themselves for the dreadful person they really are. If they weren’t so funny in a frightening way, one could cry for what American culture has been reduced to. Does it occur to them that the public isn’t laughing with them, but at them? Anyway, all I can think about is that it puts to rest the theory that if someone is very wealthy they must have class. A new word comes to mind…Masion Trash - ‘trailer trash’ with better digs, clothes and money.

Maybe I’m too critical, but a lot of the male movie stars the media raves about being sooooo handsome and soooo sexy really aren’t that handsome. And sexy? That’s hard to tell until you meet someone. But there is a guy that has it all and why don’t we see more of him in the mainstream media?? OMG! He’s tall, dark, handsome, sexy and talented as all get out! I just happened to catch him in an obscure TV movie called ‘Love Notes’ and had to find out who he was. ANTONIO CUPO!!! YAY!!! You’ve got it all!

Just an excellent movie! Witty, sharp dialogue, great acting all the way round, beautiful sets and a well written script. Hollywood should take lessons.�

I would rather sit through 2 hours of dental surgery than see this movie again! Let’s see, a dirt poor small town country girl with beautiful hair extensions and a gorgeous dye job and wonderful expensive white veneers has big dreams. That’s Hollywood original. She gets taken under the wing of a pretend tough bizarre wax figure - oh, I mean Cher playing Cher, and then country girl belts out one loud song another. Cher gets in a so obvious gratuitous song in as well. The end.

As far as sets and the movie design go - it reminded me of a very poor man’s version of Chicago. No depth, no layers, no script.�

What a wonderful movie this is! The stage settings, the costumes, the actors and most of all some blessedly intelligent dialogue. What a difference between now and then. Before this generation, words had a weightyness to them. They meant something. People thought…they weren’t afraid of silence. Compare that with today’s mindless blatherings 24 hours a day. Constantly moving screens and cameras - juvenile plots and gratuitous violence. No wonder this movie wasn’t a box office smash. It’s just too smart. Or maybe I’m just getting old.

The Blind Side

A hollywood version of reality (based on a true story). I don’t ususally like movies with any known ‘movie stars’ in them because I can never get beyond that it’s Julia Roberts being paid to do her Julia Roberts smile - same for Tom Cruise, Jack Nicholson et al. However, this was a good movie. For one thing, it didn’t have JUMPY CAMERA shots and it was laid out nice and clean - good acting, interesting sets and an uplifting story.

What can I say that hasn’t already been said about this movie. The acting all around was excellent - even that prima dona Mariah Carey proved herself in this movie. Worth the money - good to see a movie of substance and one that makes you think.

It’s Complicated

I was dragged to this movie because more than anything I hate Romantic Comedies - mindless vehicles for over paid movie stars. However, this one was a surprise in a very good way. I couldn’t mouth the dialogue before it was spoken and the plot had some interesting twists and turn and there were some good laughs too. A very pleasant surprise and good for our friends who went with us because they didn’t have to listen to me grumble about wasting my money ad naseaum.�
